Jamaican Curry Shrimp is one of those dishes that brings everyone to the table with its rich aroma, bold spices, and comforting flavors. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of enjoying an authentic plate of curry shrimp, you know it’s not just a meal—it’s an experience.
In a large bowl, season the cleaned shrimp with curry powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, jerk seasoning, and avocado oil. Mix well and let it sit for at least 15-30 minutes to soak in the flavors.
Sauté the Aromatics
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add curry powder and toast for 2 minutes to bring out its rich flavors. Then add onions, bell peppers . Sauté until fragrant and softened.
Add Coconut Milk
Pour in the coconut milk, epis, black pepper and thyme and add a whole Scotch bonnet pepper for heat. Stir everything together and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Cook the Shrimp
Add the shrimp to the pan and stir to coat in the curry sauce. Cover and let it cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and are fully cooked.
Garnish and Serve
Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve hot over white rice, rice and peas, or roti for a delicious meal.
